Your space to connect
Safer meetings start with you.
Protect your personal information
- A convincing profile can be false. Someone who can steal an identity can also create a false dating profile.
- Use caution when talking to a stranger who wants to meet you. Getting along in chat does not establish trust.
- Keep your last name, home address, workplace, phone number and email address out of your public profile and early conversations. Do not share passwords, authenticator codes, recovery keys or bank details.
- Stop communicating if someone pressures you for personal or financial information, asks for money, or tries to trick you into sharing it. Use Block member and Report member.
Plan a meeting you control
- Tell a trusted friend or family member where you are going, who you plan to meet and when you expect to return.
- Meet in a public place with other people around. Arrange your own way there and back. Do not agree to be picked up at your home.
- Keep control of your belongings, drink and transportation. Leave when you want to, including if a person or situation makes you uncomfortable.
- You may decline or cancel an invitation at any time. Accepting a meeting is never consent to sexual activity.
Lantern check-in reminders
You can start a private check-in timer in Settings → Lantern, then check in or cancel. Keep the app open for a timely reminder. If the app is closed, asleep or disconnected, the reminder can be delayed until you return. It does not contact a trusted person or emergency services. Make a separate safety plan with someone you trust.
Accepting a wave, sharing an intent, accepting a Gather invitation or joining chat does not provide consent to sexual activity or share your device location.
Understand what the app shares
Device location is optional. Profile cards can appear in your selected city without a map pin. The Lantern map shows approved places. Member-derived glow, member pins and attendance counts are disabled. Place glow does not indicate that anyone is there.
Meet Now may reveal the sender’s optional address or phone number to the recipient after acceptance. Gather places are visible to approved members. Share only details you are comfortable giving that person; previously viewed or copied information cannot be recalled.
Accounts labeled with a simulated test position are test profiles, not evidence of a real person at that location. An avatar is a chosen representation, not identity verification.
Adults 18 and older only
Enter your own date of birth accurately. Someone under 18 must not create an account or use the community. Birth-date screening is self-reported and cannot independently establish someone’s age.
If someone says they are under 18 or you have an age concern, stop contact and choose Report underage concern on their profile. Describe what raised the concern without asking them to send you an ID or other sensitive documents. Submitting a report also blocks that member for you. Reports go to the owner for manual review.
If something feels wrong
Open a member’s profile and choose Block member or Report member. Submitting a report also blocks that member for you. Reports go to the owner for review. Reports and chat are not continuously monitored, and NexConnect does not provide emergency response.
For immediate danger, contact local emergency services. Help & Safety provides additional support information without requiring sign-in.
Report a concern
Report a profile or request intimate-image removal without an account. Your contact details and report are available to authorized staff. Keep the private tracking key to check the response.
